Course Overview

Hands-on, self-paced mastery of the core Microsoft 365 apps used in modern offices: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Calendar/related collaboration tools. Learners’ complete workplace-style tasks, build a small portfolio, and validate skills through short quizzes and a final MCQ.

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end, learners can

  • Produce accessible, professional documents in Word (styles, sections, mail merge).
  • Analyze data in Excel (cleaning, formulas, lookups, PivotTables, charts, what-if tools, Power Query).
  • Build brand-consistent presentations in PowerPoint (Slide Master, data visuals, Presenter View).
  • Design a simple relational database in Access (tables/keys, queries, forms, reports, basic macros).
  • Manage communication in Outlook (search, rules, Quick Steps, signatures, cloud links).
  • Schedule effectively with Calendar (recurrence, time zones, sharing/delegation, meeting etiquette).
  • Collaborate via OneDrive/SharePoint (co-authoring, permissions, versioning).

Lesson 1: MS Word

Objectives: styles & templates; document structure; mail merge; review & protection; accessibility & PDF.

Key topics: Styles/Themes, headers/footers, section breaks, tables & images, TOC/captions, Track Changes, Mail Merge, Accessibility Checker.

Major activity: 2-page letter on branded template + mail merge to PDF.

Assessment: 8-item quiz + accessibility checkpoint.

Lesson 2: MS Excel

Objectives: data cleanup; core formulas & lookups; conditional formatting; charts; PivotTables; what-if; Power Query basics.

Key topics: cell references, ranges/tables, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, Data Validation, chart types, Pivot table/chart, Scenario/Goal Seek, Power Query.

Major activity: KPI sheet with PivotChart & slicers; small ETL with Power Query.

Assessment: 8-item quiz + accessibility checkpoint (alt text on charts, color contrast).

Lesson 3: MS PowerPoint

Objectives: Slide Master & theme; visual clarity; data visuals & media; Presenter View; export & accessibility.

Key topics: Slide Master, layout variants, typography/contrast, charts from Excel, transitions/animations (use sparingly), presenter tools.

Major activity: 8–10-slide persuasive deck with branded master, embedded chart, speaker notes.

Assessment: 7-item quiz + accessibility checkpoint (reading order, alt text).

Lesson 4: MS Access

Objectives: design relational schema; build queries; create forms/reports; simple macros; import/link external data.

Key topics: tables/keys, relationships & integrity, select/totals/crosstab queries, forms & subforms, grouped reports, UI/data macros, Compact & Repair.

Major activity: Customers–Orders database: relationships, queries, form/subform, grouped report to PDF.

Assessment: 8-item quiz + reliability checkpoint (indexes/relationships).

Lesson 5: MS Outlook

Objectives: search & triage; professional composition; signatures & templates; cloud links vs attachments; tasks & rules.

Key topics: search operators, categories/flags, Rules & Quick Steps, signatures, sharing files from OneDrive, archiving & cleanup.

Major activity: Rule set + monthly briefing invite with linked files and template signature.

Assessment: 7-item quiz + etiquette checkpoint (bcc, clarity, accessibility).

Lesson 6: Calendar & Other Applications

Objectives: create meetings with recurrence/time zones; Scheduling Assistant; sharing/delegates; security & etiquette.

Key topics: appointments vs meetings, permissions, online meeting links, sensitivity labels, time-zone handling.

Major activity: Team review workflow—store files in OneDrive, co-author, schedule/host review meeting.

Assessment: 6-item quiz + security checkpoint.
